Hey, it’s Alex from Montarev, and I want to talk about one of the coolest projects we’ve worked on recently: 1Ō5 Brewing. If you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s a new coffee shop and brewery opening in the Billings Heights in January, 2025. Specifically, they’re shooting for a soft opening date of January 14 if everything stays on track. This spot is going to be a total game-changer for the Heights, and we’re proud to say we’ve been a huge part of helping bring it to life.
Brewing a Community Hub
When Travis Zeilstra, the founder and head brewer, reached out to us, we knew right away this was going to be something special. Travis has big plans for 1Ō5 Brewing, and they’re all about building community. He’s creating a space where people can hang out, enjoy great coffee and beer, listen to live music, check out local art, and even grab a bite from food trucks. The Heights hasn’t had a place like this, and honestly, it’s about time.
Travis’s Story
A quick shoutout to Travis because his story is awesome. He’s been in the brewing world for years—starting at Montana Brewing Company, co-founding Black Tooth Brewing in Sheridan, Wyoming (which became a huge deal), and working as the head brewer at By All Means in Billings. But Travis wanted something different. He wanted to bring breweries back to their roots as local community hubs, and that’s exactly what he’s doing with 1Ō5. It’s personal for him too because he grew up in the Heights, and this place is going to be a much-needed anchor for the 30,000 or so people who live here.
How We Helped Build 1Ō5 Brewing
We’ve gone all-in on this project. From the very start, we’ve played a significant role in shaping 1Ō5’s brand and helping Travis bring his vision to life. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ve done:
Website Magic: We built a website that’s not just functional but also packed with personality. It has an events calendar for live music and food trucks, online job applications, and their full coffee and beer menu.
Photo and Video: High-quality visuals were non-negotiable for this project. From snapping shots of the building’s progress to capturing the vibe of the space, we’ve made sure 1Ō5 Brewing looks as good online as it does in person.
Menu Design: This part was super fun. We designed digital menus for the TVs inside, featuring a chalkboard-style layout for their coffee, beer, and pastries. For the drive-through, we got creative with diagrams for coffee recipes, teas, and even their Italian sodas. These menus aren’t just practical—they’re a big part of the brand.
Why It Matters
1ō5 Brewing isn’t just another coffee shop or brewery. It’s filling a gap in the Heights, a part of town that often gets overlooked when it comes to fun, community-focused spaces. This project has been personal for us at Montarev because we’re all about supporting local businesses that make a difference. We’re proud to have helped create not just a brand but a cornerstone for the community.
